Our local youth pastors are sensing that something is off and that a change is necessary. I have been unsettled personally for a while about the state of youth ministry and the self made church kid bubble it has become (particularly for our students). And I’m ready to pop the bubble and reconfigure the approach toward creating a place not just for Christian teens but EVERY teen. Some of the stuff you’ve mentioned is the direction we’re heading (trust relationships between teens and faithful adults) while keeping Jesus at the center. You’re diagnosis of “the result” is dead on and I’m excited to see what God is going to do in youth ministry in the next 10 years.
