Thank you, Sarah. I sense that sometimes we spend time talking about things because we can, but not necessarily because we need to. I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t kick at the tires of the Bible, but that sometimes we kick at the Bible, then we talk about the kicking itself… and the angle of the kick… and the shoes we wore… and soon, we’re debating what the right shoes are… and somehow the Bible keeps on being the Bible in the midst of all of that.

It is a constant focus of mine to teach my teens in youth group that we are called to relationship, with God and with each other. That the “rules” are the in place to ultimately protect our hearts and provide us a best path way of maintaining and nurturing those relationships. One of our struggles, then, is to still be compassionate towards others while standing up for Truth. Oftentimes, we choose nice friendly relationships over tough love & sharing Truth.

“I have provided you the verbal on-ramp of the Scriptures to this relational Highway”
“Truth exists, and the fact that people argue over it will either propel them closer into the Truth or away from it because they dislike the tension. The choice is yours on which which way you will live.”
