Well put. Maybe the real challenge is figuring out how to let God’s Voice speak where your voice wants to be heard.

]]> By: nathan https://youthministry.com/how-to-create-a-sermon/#comment-292011 Thu, 05 Dec 2013 17:30:51 +0000 http://www.morethandodgeball.com/?p=38374#comment-292011 my sermons take a huge turning point every time after i go to the bible. i go through the process of identifying the topic the same way and find scripture or maybe already have a passage in mind that should speak to the subject. then i throw all those expectations away and just read. the scriptures will point out exactly what i need to talk about and it’s usually only tangentially related to the topic going in. i may think i’m going to be speaking on forgiveness, and then through the scriptures, God shows me that i actually need to speak about reconciliation. it’s then that i can get personal with my own stories, metaphors, etc. i’ve found that if i take notes before going to the word in a deep way, i’ll be throwing out all those notes…or worse yet, trying to clumsily work them in.
