It’s obviously a great topic for discussion.

Thanks for the reply Stephanie! With the regular crew who are attending church (Sunday mornings) and are at youth group nights and other events regularly, it has never been an issue connecting with them. It is those either on the fringes or have never shown any interest in engaging that I wonder about. As a youth worker you want to be connecting with every youth in your scope, but I find it difficult to connect with those who are rarely at church or at any event or have shown no interest in the ministry whatsoever wihtout being overbearing.

Steve, first of all, thanks. What I’m thinking is a phone call every 3 months or so, personal post, email, or text every month. The regular text groups or email blast will of course be more frequent. The above recs are for those kids that are harder to connect with; the kids that come all the time will be texting you so you’ll be texting them more frequently. I would also be looking to connect with kids face-to-face at least 1x a month who come to worship but not youth or SS. What do you think?

Either through a personal 1-on-1, facebook, text, etc.
