Yes, when I first arrived here almost 14 years ago, it was extremely territorial. The competition was thick and whenever the youth pastors got together to share, there was a stench of pride that all could smell. I’m thankful to say that has greatly changed over my time here and the youth pastors in my town now get along very well and we even look forward to meeting together on a monthly basis. I think we have more to learn (and what you wrote reminds me of that), but I look at where we have come from, and I realize we come a long ways!

Thanks Nathan! A lot of my experience has been in smaller towns, too. In one town the youth ministries were great at this idea of sharing, while other towns had ministries that were so territorial. It makes it harder, in my opinion, to do youth ministry when the later is more prevalent than the former.
