Thanks, Jeannine. Boy… I imagine we do it just like people in the Bible did – people like Moses, Job and Elijah who took the time to talk about how much they were hating the situation they were in, and yet pressed through it. Maybe it’s the difference between confessing our fatigue/pain and putting a period at the end of it, versus putting a comma at the end of it so God can do a new thing beyond it.

How can I effectively pray and minister others feeling as I do .

So glad this served you, Tammy! There is more written about the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments than any of the other ones… how about that? 🙂 Enjoy enjoying what you enjoy!

Awesome insight! Thank you so much for sharing! I was contemplating if I was doing the right thing by taking some time off, but the Lord led me right to your article. I loved the part about not looking too hard or over-estimating my importance. All I typed in was “taking a break from ministry.” He knew EXACTLY what I needed to hear, to see…Not looking for justification in taking off, but more so that I’m not alone feeling overwhelmed- doing lesson plans, teaching, fundraising, programs, trips- and taking it home to my spouse- who also listens and speaks when needed. Thank you again and God bless!

That’s such a hard tension, Lavinia. You’re right. Great catch on Jesus’ model to unplug to recharge.

I guess we don’t feel entitled to take time off because we feel like we’re letting people down but ultimately God calls us to serve in love above serving for the sake of it. Even Jesus had to have His “away from ministry times”.
