Great point!!! Going wayyyy off topic freaked me out my first year leading a group. Definitely wish I would known that going wayyyy off topic would happen. I had to learn what to look for when that happened. If we went off topic and guys who normally aren’t super vocal starts to chim in and speak to the topic, I would let it go on. It’s amazing how it would build their confidence to speak up and voice their opinions during our regular discussion time. Good stuff!!!

Teaching is great and important, and getting a message across is too, but sometimes it’s OK to just let the discussion go where it will. Some of our best memories and times of bonding have been during groups like that.
