What advice can you give me as a parent of a special needs child in approaching the church. In advocating for my child. I have approached out youth ministry and am not getting anything but a polite response. My son does not feel accepted but they have not helped to make the youth activities even accessible to him. he is in a wheelchair and has been part of the church for 7 years. I am tired of having to push. I have to fight doctors, insurance companies, schools, and i just wish I didn’t have to fight church. Aside from going to a new church any advice? My feelings are to just stop fighting, to stay home and protect my child. Disability is very lonely and isolating and i don’t know where to find support, it i can’t get it in my church where do I go? I don’t feel there has to be a special ministry or group , just willingness of the leaders to be creative, willingness to understanding, willingness to learn , if the leaders aren’t willing to accept how can we expect the youth to ?

Great video, lots of useful info. I was wondering what advice you could give for this topic for small church youth leaders. For a lack of a better term, I feel like the church dumps special needs students and adults into the youth ministry. How do I handle this when there is nowhere else for them to go?
